I saw the civilisation large battle thing, looked pretty disappointing to me, seemed as if no matter what you did the only difference will be 95% aesthetic, with little practical difference to your gameplay. But im a cynic.

i'm only interested in the game up to the tribal part.
i'm into cavemen so when civilisations kick in i'll drop the game im not waiting for advanced cities or the damn UFO.
ofcourse these arent cavemen but its about the atmosphere

At a tech conference in California, I got to see an alpha of it in one of the keypoints.

OMFG. Lady was just attaching legs everywhere, enlarging the head, etc.

This game is everything it promises.

Just being able to make your own creatures, buildings, and vehicles is enough to make the game fun.

I used to play sims2 just to design the houses

Oh lawd I cannot wait for this game! It still doesn't look like a lot can be done but they are still at the beginning of development. It will definitly be a great game

I think they're actually close to release....I found dates between April and Summer '07 (on a Dutch site, here).

I read it was coming out in ~September...I hope sooner though. I think they said if you can run Sims2 you can run Spore...hopefully so, my stupid graphics card can't do Shader2.0 ><

This is one of only a couple games I'm interested in. It looks like a game where you can put a bunch of time in, or you can just start it up and play for a little bit. I'm just curious how long each stage lasts...I don't want to go from spore to civilization in 10 hours

Of course, even if you *do* get to civilization in only 10 hours, you've still got the world conquest and solar system phases to get through, and then you get to the penultimate phase of the game; interstellar

You don't have to advance to any stage until your ready, I believe. So if you prefer the creature stage you just stay in it and don't max out your sentience, etc...

I'm wondering, when you hit space age, can you go back and do the things you did with your creature in the past, such as hunt and mate? I saw you can get out of your spaceship but what can you really do?

I also wonder what space wars will be like...will their be coalitions and alliances? Peace treaties and such? Will there be massive space battles? I would imagine so if you could actually wage war on other planets, you would need to transport the equipment and soldiers.

All of the above I think...though i'm not 100% sure about space battles...lots of info on it on wikipedia though

well it looks like it will finally come out! Game is done, they are just testing etc

there will be a creature editor demo out before the game to play around with and it will also populate the game worlds with creatures from that I suppose
