Ever heared about extreme power metal? Well ensiferum comes quite close to that altrough not as much as Wintersun. They are still not pure viking metal.

Extreme power metal is children of bodom for example. Its not a real genre but its the best way to describe some bands. Although ensiferum isnt really as extreme as for example wintersun or CoB.
