Vehicles should move faster on roads - this is especially true of wheeled cars (ie clown car). Implementing this would make it feasible to add mines - putting mines to block road and ambush from tanks only when mines exploded hitting convoy.
You can just make maps so that there are lots of obstacles to maneuver around offroad - ie rocks, trees, AT obstacles, ditches - so that it takes a lot of *slow*, careful maneuvering if a vehicle tries to go cross-country.
Currently I believe RO uses the average speed of a vehicle (average of road/off-road) as the speed it can go on any surface, and I agree we need differentiation.
Speed should vary by terrain type.
The mines would be a no-no. Because I for one, would just get the mines, plant them at every 'popular' area for tanks to ride across/camp. And there is no way to stop it if you cant see it.
I'd like to see minefields ONLY if they were part of the map and you could sometimes get through the field without getting killed. No way they should be user placed though.
I don't think the game can model different surfaces, otherwise we wouldnt be able to drive full speed across the bottom of rivers.
As long as they are AT mines and could be selected instead of another weapon I would not be against them.
Placing of mines should take time and not just be tossed like in BF:2 and the likes.
What I would hate to see is someone with 3 Fausts, 2 satchels and X mines etc.
So they should really replace the other options.
No reloads untill the placed mines are blown and no pick ups by other classes.
