Freiwilligen Legion Norwegen announced!
Formerly know as the Battlefield.no Red Orchestra Squad, the Norwegian legion is back to get serious! Many of the european mod veterans will recognise us, and we look forward to seeing you in Ostfront. We will be joining roladder.net as our first competitive experience under our new tag, as a token of appreciation for their enduring support for the Red Orchestra Mod. 8vs8 will hopefully be our preferred mode of gameplay.

History
When sovjet invaded Finland in 1939, thousands of nordic men volunteered to defend their neighbour country. About 750 norwegians were enrolled, two of them gave their life. When Germany invaded Norway the next year, many of these veterans of war were an important part of the small army that tried to oppose the wehrmacht.
It is somewhat ironic then, that already in 1942, a new military unit where formed to fight alongside the wehrmacht, to fight against what they perceived as the Bolsjevik threat. "The volunteer Norwegian Legion" (Den Norske Legion) were supposed to be fighting alongside the finnish army, but military needs dictated that the unit where deployed at the front south of Leningrad. The unit fought until 1943, when it was disbanded. After that, norwegian volunteers would mainly fight with the Waffen SS.

Lest we forget
The second world war was a tragedy without end, and the savagry seen especially on the eastern front (compared to the western front) was appalling. While our clan wears the name of a military unit which were a part of the axis aggression against the USSR, let there be no doubt that each and every of our members denounce the political and ideologial views of the axis governments. We're not so keen about Stalinism either, for that matter.
