Hello All,
This is just a quick announcement of sorts that a group of my friends (and I) have struck up new clan/sqaud. We are all quite interested in tank combat and have chosen to virtually represent the above named unit.
We dont have much if any experience of the RO mod; we've all been kind of waiting patiently for about 5 or 6 months. The core group of our clan is composed of about 5 or so players (from other sqauds) active in the Il-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles flight sim community. We have always being into realism and survival, as well as group tactics, teamwork and communication.
Although small we are expecting a trickle of new players coming across from old sqauds in CoD2, and WWII online. We are mature minded guys, I think the youngest member is in his mid-twenties and the eldest, well, they'd prefer we not say lol.
I'd also like to stress that 502 was part of the "regular" army or Heer organization, and should in no way be confused with a similiarly named formation in the SS establishment. Likewise, members of the virtual Pz.502 in no way support the motivations or ideologies of National Socialism (Nazi) or any associated brutality attributed to them. We are just here to have fun.
The Pz.Abt 502 was the unit that Otto Carius belonged to in real life, and his book Tigers in the Mud is a thourough chronicle of his various campaigns.
I made one post before, under the name I first registered as. We hope to be around for a while and in due time the web-pages and roster will be sorted out.

That was all I really wanted to say, we did our research a few weeks ago when it came to selecting a name, if your interested heres a little of what we ripped off the net, otherwise you can pretty much stop reading now,
See you on the battle-field.

The introduction of the PzKpfw VI Tiger I heavy tank provided a dramatic improvement in the power of German armored formations. Both because of the real technical advantages of the Tiger I, and the propaganda advantages of creating "elite" units in the Panzertruppen, the Tiger was assigned to special heavy tank battalions (schwere Panzer Abteilungen - sPzAbt). These were to be held at army or corps level and assigned as needed to reinforce other units during a campaign. Only a few divisions ever received organic Tiger battalions. These included Panzergrenadier Division Gro
