Well, it doesn't run perfect in terms of framerate, but it's perfectly playable and I don't have the suttering that people complain about.

Runs fine on ultra (~45 FPS) on the first rig, and fine (~40 fps) on the second one. (Laptop.)

Each to his own. I lower the graphics, I get 60, but seriously, I don't notice any difference at all.

Why is it not fine? You know the human eye can't tell the difference with anything over 35fps right?

I'm not sure about that, is it referenced? We don't see in terms of frames, per se. Anyways, it's still ridiculous. Halo 3 is locked at 30FPS, and that's a "success"

I've been gaming on 30+ FPS since I could hold a PS1 controller, and it's always been good enough for me.

I apologize, let me correct myself. It varies, but it looks like the eye stops seeing the flicker effect at around 60fps, and that varies between people.

Anyway, before they optimized the engine with the recent patches, i was playing with everything on Medium, and getting around 100fps, if people wanted to, they can drop their settings to get a better game play. I don't understand people who refuse to play a fun game because they can't play it on highest settings.
