New Forum

I do, but anything 3 letters or less, like say P-90 or M99 or other weapon designation doesn't show up, and it gives 20 pages when u search weapon. Gun also isn't allowed - anything below 4 letters and the search bit*es at u :(

You do have a point, although it seems silly to create a board for just one type of mod, when there's the potential for many more types. Perhaps we could ask weapon mod makers to prefix their thread titles with [weapon] or something?

Use the search feature?

Good idea but that only works if you know what you are looking for, where as it would be really nice to have a look through to see what weapons are in production and/or completed. You may just come across something that you have never heard of, or the thread was not listed correctly to relect the name of the weapon being made.

I totally agree with the original request, as now mods are starting to be made, it would be nice to have our own section to filter out what actually are weapons and what are general mods.

This is probably related to a broader topic of relying on a forum to serve as the sole contact point for custom content. The longevity of content getting upped to non-browsable, non-searchable repositories linked to a forum post that falls of the page in a month is very, very low.
Use ModDB or FileFront. They can both be browsed by category, search, and you'll still be able to find the content just as easily a year or two from now.
Forums move too fast to really be of service to quickly and easily finding content. They're great for making announcements but their ability to be used as archives is defeated by the very nature of it being a message board.

Thats all very true. But even now, this forum is full of suggestions, maps, weapons, ect. But maps have their own forum (2 actually) where they get direct help with beta testing and such. I guarantee that if there was a weapon forum we would see an increase in modding, since weapons are what KF is about to many people. Obviously it would end up populated with some stupid Sh*t as well, but if everything weapon related went in there, it would be so much better.

You are very right in saying that the forums are a horrible place for a community like this, but it is the best we have :(

Forums aren't bad for the community, they're just not designed to be used as repositories for content.
Creating a new weapon isn't just doing one thing and if anyone has questions we already have appropriate subforums for them to be asked in. 3D for the mesh and anims, 2D for the skin and shaders, Sound for the audio, and Coding for the uscript. Otherwise we're just making modders sift through all this unsorted information in a single subforum for the benefit of using it as a repository, which doesn't benefit anyone in the long term.
