Jungle Insurgency game mode.

Infantry only combat the game mode is is to find and destroy Viet Cong spawn points scattered randomly through the jungle, kind of like the search and destroy campaign of the war.

US side gets limited tickets, the NLF gets unlimited re spawns but fixed spawn points that are well hidden, no commander assets on the US side and one fixed spawn.

NFL spawn points are RNG as to not make them predictable to the US side.

As well as the map scale must be huge, this will not work on a small map.

US also gets the luxury of transport choppers to re enter the combat area and no squad leader spawn, if your squad is wiped they have to rely on a transport chopper to reinforce the squad or maybe introduce a spawn system kind of like the FOB's of Project reality and Squad but tailored to individual squads rather then the entire team.

NLF also has ammo dumps at there spawns to continue the long fight.

And maybe introduce drop able ammo assets via helicopter to allow the US to also continue the fight.

In the future maybe player controlled recon planes with pilot and spotter to help identify NLF activity and marking targets on the map for infantry.

And the introduction of player controlled artillery with recon plane acting as observer.

Also the introduction of flares a bit of a luxury item, if a recon plane happens to see a flare he can mark it on the map as a spawn found or arty target.

CoD had a gamemode which was quite interesting: Behind Enemy Lines! Let me quote a wiki:
Most people spawn as an Axis player except for a handful which spawn as Allies. If an Axis player kills an Allied soldier, the Axis soldier respawns as an Allied soldier and the Allied player spawns as an Axis soldier.

This system could be applied as well in a way and really fits the style. Maybe the Vietnamese Forces have got respawns until their tunnels are destroyed or so.

This reminds me that RS2 needs a gametype vote-option.

This seems like a cool and strangely obvious idea. Vietnam was all about searching and destroying. It would be nice having a slower paced larger scale game mode where you have the tension of moving through jungle, fearing ambush and such. I don't fully agree with your specific suggestions of no US commander abilities and that but as a general idea it would be great to see as an addition post release.

After thinking about it, the commander should still be allowed to call in air support.
