Level Design RO Mapping Tutorials?

[5.SS] Richter said:
I'm a real noob at mapping. Where can you find things like grass (ground cover), sky and hills in the SDK? The manual is great for everything else but it doesn't really cover basic landscapes. Could someone please help a noob out?

If I'm understanding correctly, what you are talking about is the Terrain:
Check out some of the stuff here: (note: it's not in order.. skip down to "Creating Terrain" first..)
http://udn.epicgames.com/Two/TerrainTopics

You can then add in deco-layers for some ground foilage, then drop in Static Meshs for trees, rocks, burned out tanks, etc..

you can also Google Up some terrain tut's for UT2k4 (or UT2k3).. most of what works for those games will work in OstFront.

here i am

here i am

hi guys im here to help most of my work is done in swat 4 but i know my way around the Ued and basicly can help out with most probs cant wait to see what the capabilities of the RO editor are like not good doing an outdoor map and having to have a load of tarmac because the editor dont have the terrain editor working

as for tunnels piece of advice its easier to cut them as bsps then use the 2 d shape editor all ya have to do is use either add or subtract then and they optimise in ya levels faster

spheres also can be used as long as you use a multipule of 4 anything more then that and it looks funny less and it dont look good

forgot to mention a good rough guide for doors is 160x80x16 for a single and 160x160x16 for a double just make sure you place the 2 rooms 16 apart and all will be fine

whoops i think i made a boo boo it looks like all the sizes have gone out the window im used to using in ued for swat 4 and ut2004

so im asking the devs out there for a fast post with the corect sizes for basic doors and windows and room spacings

And if you speak German, here:
http://www.unrealedforum.de/ :D
We moved due to personal reasons.
If you are still interested in joining a nice and friendly German mapping-community, check out our site here:
http://www.unrealed.eu/
There are free German tutorials and a forum with competent members. The site is centered around Unreal Tournament in all shapes and forms, but Unrealengine is Unrealengine. :)
If you have questions regarding terrains, lighting, projectors, StaticMeshes and whatnot, you can ask them there, too. The major RO-specific stuff is explained in the dev

unrealed.eu is no more. It's been dead for quite a while, actually. The links that originally pointed to unrealed.eu now redirect you to unrealed.info - another German tutorial site and UnrealEd forum.

I made my own English (!) forum now where I will also offer tutorials. I had a thread about this in the level design section here, but I figured it couldn't hurt to have a link to it in the Tutorial-sticky.

The forum is located at http://liandri.darkbb.com. Click here for an index of all the available tutorials. I will update this as soon as a new one is posted. You are welcome to post your own tutorials there as well, even small ones that would qualify more as tips & tricks rather than a tutorial.
