Composer Sam Hulick Chosen as Heroes of Stalingrad

Wow, lots of great comments here - thanks, everyone! To address a couple things mentioned...

Correct, this is not a live orchestra or choir you hear, it's all samples, just very high quality samples. There is one live element in the mix, though, which is the solo violin.

Also, Nezzer: looks like your link leads to "Spectre Introduction," which was actually composed by the amazingly talented Richard Jacques. Just thought I'd clarify, I rather dislike taking credit for things I didn't create. :)

Please excuse my brief shameless plugging: For anyone who wants to keep track of my updates, I'm on Facebook (http://facebook.samhulick.comhttp://facebook.samhulick.com) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/SamHulickhttp://twitter.com/SamHulick). Both essentially have the same content, so whatever is easier. Also, there's a decent handful of my music (unreleased Mass Effect 1 & 2 tracks, stuff from other projects) posted on my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/MDesignerhttp://www.youtube.com/user/MDesigner so be sure to check that out & subscribe - who knows, maybe later on there might be some sneak peeks at more ROHOS music. Maybe. ;)

Cheers!

No Sam, Spectre Induction was just picked randomly for the link(though is one of my favourite tracks), I meant to lead to the playlist in which there are some of your compositions like Victory and From the Wreckage, which are my favourite ones from the OST CD, but my top favourite is "Alliance Victory" that plays when we save the Council in ME1 :D
Glad to have one of the composers of my favourite singleplayer game in my favourite multiplayer game ^^
By the way, ROHoS new theme is fantastic!

Nice to see another member of the development team posting here.

Hope you can post more news on the devoplment of the heroes music.
Maybe share some of the insight into making music for a game set during such an epic period of world history?

Sure, probably down the road I can talk more about the whole process.

wow the quality of the sythesized instruments really made it sound real. was the choir live or artificial? i didnt think you could get real words with artificial voice sounds....

are there plans to record the final tracks with a live orchestra?

This is not a live choir, but I wouldn't call it synthesized either. It's sampled off real singers. A word builder utility allows me to have them sing specific phonetics that I enter. It's not perfect, obviously, and I'm making an effort to track down live vocal talent.. we shall see how that turns out. And no, no plans to record with a live full orchestra at this point in time.

even though the quality of the "artificial" instruments/voices from what we've hear so far is stunning, imo a real orchestra just adds that extra WOW and makes the music really come alive. if you guys do eventually decide on recording with a live full orchestra/choir, maybe see if these guys are interested: http://www.eminenceonline.com/

here's one of their most popular vids:

looking forward to hearing the final product!! :)

Sam Hulick is a professional composer no doubt about that. And i'm just a
dude who listen a music. How ever i would like to point out few things.

There is a two new videos in youtube on TWI profile page,
which both got different soundtrack.
The one which got "russian" choir work well, dont know if the choir does
the trick. And that otherone which once again sound like typical American
"war music" with lot of drums and wind instrument.

Slavonic music use much more string instruments instead of wind instrument.
And its mostly melancholic, yes it can also go massive, but even then
without loosing melancholy.

Good examples:

Tchaikovsky - Serenade for Strings:
YouTube - TCHAIKOVSKY: Serenade for Strings in C major, Op. 48

Sibelius - Finlandia:
YouTube - Jean Sibelius: Finlandia

Aleksandr Aleksandrov - Gimn Sovetskogo Sojuza:
YouTube - USSR Anthem
