Tripwire Interactive are pleased to announce the development of the Rising Storm expansion for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad. Rising Storm will cover the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945 as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese Army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Featuring some of the most brutal fighting in the Pacific theater, players will be able to experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters cave fighting and more across Corregidor, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and many other historic locations. The player will be able to take the part of either side

Well if the Modders can earn some money with it, it would probably come at a fee like DLC. I just hope it goes the direction of ArmA2 AO then though, so it becomes a sort of standalone expansion. So people without HOS can still play it, while allowing people that got both HOS and Rising Storm to join servers for both "games" from either the HOS or Rising Storm server browser.

(But logically if its paid not allowing servers to run both hos and rising storm maps so that people that only got hos or only got RS wont be kicked upon map change. ).

Great idea Tripwire--the devil's in the details, but I think it'll be a great experiment that will turn out some good stuff. Good luck to all who will be involved in this in the coming years!

Plus it's one step closer to what I think would be a really interesting theater--the Sino-Japanese war. Make it happen people!
