Beta Map [Map] TE-Arad 2 (Beta3)

I tell you what I'll do!!!! I'll work on the map a bit more and prep it for an all out tank version. I'll remove the unnecessary stuff, like the open houses, fences... etc. and release it. ;-) promise!!






Edit: I'll make most of the stuff destructible , so you can blow it all up!!:D

But i'd still like to know what i need to do to get the bots spawning in tanks on the present version.

Love the new (beta) version: way less foggy (almost no fog from what I see :|), the new dirt is way less red, more "earthy" texture, the rocks look better, I can see way more clearer inside buildings, nice addition to the plains making them more suitable to attack and defense by infantry.

I didn't noticed anything on the water, maybe there are some improvements but I don't see them :p

Now onto the problems:

1) The extra-zoom thing

Well ... it's still there.

I think it's a graphical thing, much similar to the "double iron-sight" bug that was happening on Station a few months ago.

Now, like then, depends on the direction you're extra-zooming. I checked the official maps carefully and you get a similar shacking depending on where you're aiming but the shackin is more reduced on those maps.

So .... I don't know if it's Wolverine's thing to fix or it's something that goes with the SDK.

2) Flickering textures

I've discorvered some flickering textures, see video below:

3) Bushes on the (very) top of rocks

They don't grow there, they look funny and remind me of nipples :rolleyes:

You should remove them.


4) Smoke out of rocks

The smoke is nice but I think it's placed bad. Placing it on top of those big rocks formations make them look like small volcanos ... and there are no volcanos in Arad, big or tiny :)

Regarding the zoom shake: I believe this can happen when the level isn't placed near the world origin in the editor. I haven't checked the map myself to see if it's placed around the origin.

I've tested this out with an increasing number of bots each time,and its only when they're are 64 bots on the server that they spawn in tanks,this surely can't be right,am i doing something wrong? or does their need to be 64 (not 60 or 63) players/bots before the bot tanks spawn?

Once again thanks for doing a tank only version, its very good of you to do this for us treadheads,,but can you be sure that the bots will spawn in their tanks no matter how many players/bots are on the server.
Not everybody has/wants/ or can afford a 64 slot server,and the way the map is setup just now,that's how many slots their needs to be before the bots spawn in tanks.

You can leave the buildings etc..

But where are the destructables in Beta 2? I found none.... or is that for 64 man servers only too?

In an effort to get the bots in Arad2 to populate the tanks i upped my normal 32 slot server to 64 for a short time, the screenshots below are the results of what happened to two standard maps:
No spawns
No radios
Rubberbanding bots
No "Axis have captured ???????"

When i returned my server back to its normal 32 slots,all these problems disappeared.
Perhaps its a problem with over-extended servers rather than the custom maps.




did you have the problem with my map as well? or just the stock maps?

On you're map i played as a tanker and i couldn't hit or damage the enemy tanks no matter how close i was,but i never noticed any rubber banding,or incomplete cap signs.
I should also add that on Fallenfighters,when i eventually spawned as a tanker i could not destroy the trees and the other small destructable buildings in the square,the shots had no effect.
