So some mappers are getting into the swing of things and making maps for this mod.

But we have already had a case of a double up. Becuase I know some of you like keeping your maps secret for a bit. So if you want to keep your HOTW secret let me know at least. So then I know what you are all doing and can tell you if someone else is already doing it. You can even post your map here if you want.

If mappers are stuck for idea's for maps I can list a few here. Maps in Italy 1944-1945 are good as well. Doesn't just have to be France and Germany. But it has to be 1944.

Some idea's

Battle of Hurtgan forest:
Late 1944 autumn/early winter. The United States. largest military defeat taking over 27,000 casualties. The germans defended this area which ultimately let the germans launch the Ardennes offensive. Many american assaults failed until ultimately the Germans started pushing back opening the door for the Ardennes offensive. This was where the american fast replacement system failed. Throwing many barely trained recruits into the fray. Many maps could be made here.

Ardennes offensive:
Germans lead many assaults onto american positions in the snow. Poorly prepared units. Wiping out the 28th infantry division and mauling the 4th armoured division both units had been involved in heavy fighting in the battle of Hurtgan forest before.

Battle of monte Cassino:
After the failed assault by the Americans trying to cross the river the New Zealand corp made up of the 2nd New Zealand armoured division 4th Indian infantry division and 78th infantry division under the command of the US 5th army was tasked with taking this town. The New Zealand corp codenamed spadger force was a strategic reserve made up of experianced units and rather large divisions. Designed to be deployed whenever the green US and British troops ran into any tricky situations. As most in Italy were new recruits. The town was defended by the fallshirmjager. These were veterns of stalingrad and other parts of the Eastern front. The fallshirmjager also had a personal vendetta against the 2nd New Zealand division as they are the reason the fallshirmjager jump no more. The 2nd New Zealand division and british 78th division assaulted the two while the 4th Indian went straight up the mountain who were then to be joined by the first two divisions. The fallshirmjager were down to 10% strength but still managed to throw them back.

Anzio beachhead:
The Americans landing at Anzio met no resistance. Their task was to outflank Cassino cutting them off and opening the doors to rome. Scout jeeps from the landing drove all the way into the streets of Rome itself before meeting any resistance. However the general in charge decided it was better to sit on the beach for no apparent reason even through literally everybody told him it was a stupid idea. The Germans cut off the Americans and launched a counter attack on the Americans. Primarily against the 3rd infantry division. They say there for months. Winston Churchill calling the american force there a "beached whale". Months later the americans had a massive breakout led by the 3rd infantry division smashing as side the thin german line. Many of the germans pinning thrm in were set off to other areas of italy. Monte Cassino was outflanked by french Moroccan and Algerian troops and the mountain itself taken by Polish troops equipped by the British.

Southern France and the Colmar pocket:
The 3rd infantry division again assaulted the south of France driving upwards. War heroes such as Audie Murphy were made here.

The drive up italy:
The italian campaign went on until the end of the war. It ended with the 2nd New Zealand division taking Treiste and meeting up with the Yugoslav partisans. The Yugoslav partisans were an army in their own right and didn't like the fact that a british commenwealth unit was in land they considered theirs. T-34s and Shermans lined up against each other until words prevailed. But many italian cities were taking in this drive after rome was captured. By various american and British commonwealth troops.

Just some ideas.
