In Country

What kind of music are you guys looking for?

I'm a multi-instrumentalist with experience in different band-contexts too. If I'd know what you guys are looking for, I could see if I can contribute something. :)

Sorry for the delay, only just spotted ;)

We haven't really discussed how we will tackle the music in depth other than 'Pseudo Hendrix' or 'Traditional Vietnamese Folk Music'. However it is something we are looking at in the coming weeks and we'll have a better idea about what we need/want then.

If you are interested in helping out in any way, drop us an email and we can get back to you when we have something more concrete :)

will you be bring the less desirable features from RO2 to the mod?

Things like, unlocks, anachnronistic attachments/weapons, laser like weaponry, bandaging, zoom, sprint to ironsight in 0.45 nanoseconds, etc..

Although whilst I can't go into details at the moment I can say that we are listening to the communities wants and needs and we plan to create a MOD that whilst different from RO2 keeps the spirit of the Red Orchestra series.

So if there is something that you want or don't want to see in our MOD then post a list over at the 'Ideas and Suggestions' section of our forums,

http://forum.incountrymod.com/viewforum.php?f=3

We read everything that the community wants to see and more importantly what they don't want to see :)

i see, thank you.

i just hope its more inline with RO than RO2.

I mean, if In Country and Rising Storm dont deliver, then i'll probably go on a shooting spree. no pressure...

Thx for the heads-up mate. Although I'm not too deep into traditional Vietnamese folk music, I'd like to get some more specific info once you figured out which way to go. :D

Here's a reference list of infantry weapons. Obviously it would not be practical to render the entire list, but there are some interesting weapons here, many of which are frequnetly overlooked. Might add some extra flare to the mod by adding some lesser known weapons on specific maps.

People’s Army of Vietnam/National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam Infantry Weapons:

Captured French Far East Expeditionary Corps Weapons:

MAS Mle.50 Pistol

M1/M2 Carbine
MAT Mle.49 SMG

MAS Mle.36 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
MAS Mle.49 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
Enfield M1917 Rifle/Sniper Rifle

FM Mle.24/29 LMG
B.A.R. M1918A2 LMG
Browning M1919A4 MG

Captured Japanese Weapons:
These weapons would have become increasingly rare following the first Indochina conflict.
Nambu Type 14 Pistol
Type 100 SMG
Arisaka Type 99 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
Type 99 LMG

Imported German Weapons (East German/USSR Military Aid):

K98 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
Common VC sniper weapon.
MP-40 SMG
STG-44 Assault Rifle
MG-34 LMG
MG-42 LMG

Imported Czech Weapons (USSR Military Aid):

CZ Vz.52 Pistol
SA Vz.26 SMG
Rare; came across some photo evidence.
SA Vz.58 Assault Rifle
Even though the Vz.58 looks very similar to the AK-47, it is a completely different design. The VZ is more accurate, has a higher ROF, and is significantly lighter than an AK. It does not have the AK's legendary reliability however. Supposedly, it was quite popular with NVA specialist sapper and raider units. The female VC sniper towards the end of Full Metal Jacket was using a Vz.58 if you look closely.
ZB Vz.30 LMG
Many were rechambered to 7.62x39 by the Chinese.
UK Vz.59 MG

Imported Soviet Weapons/Chinese Variants:

TT-33 Pistol
Makarov Pistol

SKS-45 Carbine
Mosin Nagant M1891/44 Carbine
AK-47/AKM Assault Rifle
PPSH-41 SMG
Many were locally converted to the K-50M.
PPS-43 SMG

Mosin Nagant M1891/30 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
SVT-40 Rifle/Sniper Rifle
Limited use by the NVA.
SVD-63 Sniper Rifle
Very scarce evidence that these were present in Vietnam before the early 70's.

DP-28/DPM LMG
RPD-44 LMG
RPK LMG
SG-43 MG

F1 Frag Grenade
Type 67 Stick Grenade
Type 36 Recoilless Rifle
RPG-2
Locally manufactured as the B-40
RPG-7
Some evidence that the Chinese variant was used in the late 60s onwards

United States Army/United States Marine Corps/Army of the Republic of Vietnam/Australian Task Force Infantry Weapons

Colt M1911A1 Pistol
Smith & Wesson M39 Pistol
MACV-SOG units used suppressed M39s.
Browning GP-35 Mk.3 Pistol
Issued to Austrailian units.

M1/M2 Carbine
XM177E2 Carbine
XM16E1/M16A1 Assault Rifle
Thompson M1A1 SMG
M3A1 SMG
Carl Gustav M/45 SMG
Owen SMG
Issued to Austrailian units before the M16 was entered into service.

M1/M1D Rifle/Sniper Rifle
L1A1 Rifle
Issued to Austrailian units.
M14 Rifle
XM21 Sniper Rifle
Springfield M1903A4 Sniper Rifle
M40 Sniper Rifle

B.A.R. M1918A2 LMG
M14E2 LMG
M60 LMG
XM207E1 LMG
L2A1 LMG
Issued to Austrailian units.
Browning M1919A4 MG

M26 Frag Grenade
Ithaca M37 Shotgun
M79 Grenade Launcher
XM148 Grenade Launcher
M20 Super Bazooka
M72 LAW

narrowed out all the weapons that dont need to be there

Aww.. I don't see the Chinese Type-56, the Type-56, or the Type-56!
(actually they are just listed under the Sov designations.. being.. the AK-47, the SKS, and the RPD lmg)

:]

We have a pretty robust list of weapons we've already prioritized and are working on, never fear friends

So judging from this comment, it's safe to say that most of the weapons will be designated under Thier Chinese make and model rather than the Soviet (Which didn't actually supply that many arms to Vietnam)

Edit: you also forgot about the type 56 (or RPG-2)

Well I'm not saying anything.. although the Type-56 Assault Rifle was in the teaser trailer.

not asking for a release date, but is this even close to be released?

Official of course is 'when it's done', whenever that might be :]

Unofficially, are we close to a release date?
If you're hoping for it this calendar year; Straight up, It's not going to happen. Beyond that, I won't say.

(Just to put it into perspective, all of RO1's major mods took > 6 months.. most more then a full year or two... now I think all of the major RO2 mods have already gotten alot of groundwork laid out, so I don't expect any of them, including In Country, to take anywhere near 2 years, but it still takes alot of time to get something out)

In Country, Rising Storm and Iron Europe mod teams have already been using the SDK for a long time, they had a special SDK released for them from TWI

RS has had the SDK for a long time.
I can't speak for Iron Europe, but we at In Country have only had the SDK since the Preview release keys were put out, so if 1 month of a partially functioning SDK is 'a long time', then yes.. :]
