[Game] ArmA 3, for real

8800GT as a minimum requirement? Like I said, this game will take a lot to run. :p And I am still hoping I will have hardware that can max out ArmA 2 one day.

Though if it scales down well when turning the settings down (same performance for similar graphic quality compared to ArmA 2) then that is all the matters for me.

i imagine a decent processor will be the most important factor as seemed to be the case on the previous games.
I am at those minimum specs (albeit a slightly better card) and arma2 runs low-med for me too - playable with blastcore but pretty choppy (maybe i'm just used to these games running at around 20 frames).
Can't see arma3 being any fun on this setup.

Of course with arma2 my 8gb ram may as well be 2 - i presume arma3 will utilise a lot more ram than that.

This game will be missing only 3 things on release day:
- ACE
- ACRE
- BAF expansion pack

and DayZ at some point ;)

Cant' read link at work...
ACE certainly will be missed an working ACRE or equivelent would be awesome if the main protagonist is Brit special forces and the blufor is UN then i'm surprised there isn't a fair bit of BAF content- and the last can stay separate and a mod option only as far as i'm concerned.

Scuba part of the game interests me a lot and I'm happy to see a fair amount of time invested in this.

2013 is fine by me too - plenty life left in arma 2 (i'd still happily be playing arma 1 if that was the latest version)

It looks absolutely incredible.. I wonder what the exact specs are of the rig they're using to give this demo. This will most likely be THE game for me going forward.. I hope Day Z will be brought to this as well, don't see why it wouldnt be.

AFAIR E3 PC specs are:
i7 2600 (not K)
GTX560Ti
8GB RAM
SSD

but I'm not sure if Bohemia used them.

Game runs fine, and it is only alpha tech demo. I've heard that Bohemia pushed back a release due engine improvements planned for 2012 (ie. newer PhysX).

few more videos from the 16AA forums.

So far biggest disappointment for me is lack of ToH fly engine in ArmA 3.

Agreed. This has been elevated to #1 anticipated game for me. Everything from ArmA2, plus updated visuals, solid weapon mechanics, and pvp and this will be a dream game.

Also, there's these two articles, the second one being a very exciting prospect for DayZ fans:

Those videos are certainly impressive, and it's clear they've taken game polish seriously this time. Even so, I won't even think of buying it unless it runs well on my system. Lack of optimization was the biggest thing that killed A2 for me. I would have tolerated the clunkiness more if the game ran at a solid FPS.

You may be in luck this go around:
