General Behaviour
  • Use the search function before posting. Chances are your question has already been answered.
  • Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention either in the title or the body of the post.

  • Political discussions are prohibited.
  • Flaming - We do not tolerate abusive, malicious, personal attacks. You will be banned if you persist in this behavior.
  • Trolls - Anyone deliberately antagonizing other forum users by posting 'flame bait' type messages is not welcome. You will be banned (possibly without warning depending on the severity of the issue) if you persist in this behavior.

Username, Avatar and Signature Rules

Offensive material
The following is a list of some things that MAY be considered "offensive" by the moderators and the team. This is NOT an exclusive list and it does depend very much on context.

Crossing the line into "offensive" territory is likely to get you asked to change your name, sig or avatar or to withdraw/delete posts. This will be done politely by the moderators. If you refuse to comply further action WILL be taken once started, ultimately leading to banning from the forums.

A key point: please attempt to use your brains. What is mild humour to you may well be deeply offensive to others. While we have no intention of acting as politically-correct "thought police", we are on the lookout for those things that can cause offense and, in some cases, are actually still illegal in some jurisdictions.
  1. Names recalling notorious war criminals or personalities.
  2. Names recalling atrocities and war crimes in general, or units with particularly odious histories.
  3. Use of obscenities and expletives.
  4. Blatant racism, mysogynism or many other "ism"s.
  5. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Nazism or Fascism; this does not include pics of soldiers who happen to have such symbols on their uniform, unless we feel this has been done to provoke. Please note that many Nazi symbols (including the Swastika) are still illegal in Germany and other countries and considered deeply offensive by many Europeans.
  6. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Stalinism.
  7. On both the previous two, the moderators' views on the intention and impact of use of such symbols will be final - not yours. Please be understanding if you are advised to change something.
  8. In general, if a sig/avatar represents your allegiances in-game and is clearly "in part", it is likely to be fine; if the moderators feel you are trying to demonstrate unpalatable political allegiances, or to use it in an attempt to ridicule or provoke others you WILL be asked to change it. RO is NOT the place to make any extremist political statements of any kind.
Examples:
So people get the idea, some examples that would be considered offensive, numbered as above:
  1. "Hitler", "Beria"
  2. "NKVD Blocking Detachment", "Einsatzgruppen"
  3. This one should be pretty obvious...
  4. So should this - and it includes calling all Germans "Nazis" and all Soviets/Russians "Commies". It got boring 50 years ago, so stop it.
  5. Use of swastikas, fasces, SS-runes and so on for the Axis.
  6. There is actually very little overt symbolism from the Stalinist era; the hammer-and-sickle isn't offensive per se.
A simple rule-of-thumb: many Europeans find Nazi symbolism of any sort offensive; many Americans still find Soviet symbolism offensive. Engage your brain before using.




Final Note: this is NOT open to debate, so please do NOT start whining and moaning if a moderator asks you to change something. They will advise at first, giving reasons, then, if you take no notice, they will step up the pressure through to banning.

    I hated the combat shotgun when I first started using it, but now I actually like it. .44 is ok, should have stayed 2 slots. M4, not really sure about. It is a pretty common weapon worldwide. Also, MW2 is actually a decent game once you turn off that loud annoying music, at least the singleplayer is.

    For the commando, I find the AK fine at all ranges. It is pretty much my "everything" rifle.

      I'm probably nowhere near as experienced, but my thoughts on stuff I've used:

      CSG: It's been a nice sidegrade from the shotty, but it's just so costly in comparison. If it was flat out better I could roll with the pricetag, but since it's been balanced to be different, instead of better, the price should reflect that.

      Magnum: Hate it on Sharp, hate it a lot, but it's proven itself a very worthy companion as a Zerker. I hate crawlers with a passion and this just kills them dead easily. I think the general consensus of "2kg pls" would really help it fit in to a role of an off-perk weapon for classes that need something that "shoots the bullets" without sacrificing much weight. Maybe drop the price 50-100 or so as well.

      Claymore: I love Katana Zerker too much to really play with it a lot, much prefer fast attacks.

      M4 203: Took it once, never again. M74 just does anything I want that this could do anyway, besides popping smallfry, which is what having a sidegrade gun is for. I'd probably consider it more if it was cheaper, but with how unearthly expensive it is, I've always had better luck just taking a sidearm.

        MP5 is actually excellent for a sharp, if he can get it at discounted price. The healing altfire can be a noteworthy advantage if your team or medic aren't great. But the real reason it's good with sharps is that the sharp's universal headshot bonus lets you decap trash in one shot, even on HoE. So it's a great trash weapon, .44 is a decent siren/husk gun, and Xbow makes Scrakes easy and FPs manageable.

        Sorry for the digression, back to what OP asked:
        MP7: Awesome
        .44 Mag: When they reweigh it back to 2, awesome, but for now it's a poor choice unless your main concern is looking cool.
        Claymore/M4/Combat Shotgun: Nice intermediates between existing roles
        M4203: Rarely worthwhile, but always fun.
        Husk Gun: Neat, but it has more intricacies than I know, so I don't don't know how potentially good it can be.

            yeah but the 20 round cap offperk is crippling, add the high ROF into the equation and you have yourself an empty magazine a good deal of the time. also the MP5's quicker syringe recharge is much nicer offperk. if the MP7 had 25 rounds unperked, id choose it over the MP5 every single time, i already do as medic.

            also to anyone questioning the usefulness of the combat shotty, ill leave this here:

                definitely agree on the pricing, at the very least reduce the price of ammo to match the pump, they have the same exact stats ammunition wise, doesnt make sense the combat's ammo costs 3x as much

                  Rather then decrease its price to match its usefulness, give it a buff to match it's price. I think they need to increase total ammo held - from 48 shells to 56 (and from 62 to 72 with the L6 ammo bonus) - and maybe speed the reload up a bit.
                  Currently, its semi-auto capability is something of a detriment: you expend the magazine too quickly and it reloads to slowly. A boost to total ammo and reload speed should make it's primary advantage over the pump action more prominent.

                      I'm for this, but I still think the price is too much. They ought (imho) to ditch that ****ty tacticool reflex sight and drop the drice down to 1000-1500 quid, making it 2-3x more expensive than the shotgun always, in addition to the rather hefty ammo price your proposal would entail.

                        I find it very hard to fire just one shot with the MP7 while aiming, so that usually means only ten potential kills per mag. MP5 fires at a slower rate that makes it manageable to fire one shot at a time, so that's a potential of 32 kills per mag.
                        Also, on HoE, the MP7 takes two shots even as sharp.
                        Spawning with one is definitely a plus, though.

                          IMO, the MP5 is a great upgrade from the MP7. Now, maybe its because I joined during the christmas event, thanks the free weekend thing, but I like using the mp5 because it basically gives you 3 healing darts at once, where as the mp7 only gives 2 darts at a time. Being a lvl 6 medic, the recharge is amazing, but it sucks being able to ony use two healing darts, because people keep moving randomly, and sometimes lag makes it miss, or even the fake green puff makes me think that i hit the palyer, when actually, I didnt.


                          As for the other weapons, I only know that the claymore is a nice substitue for the katana/axe pair. Ive used it a few times, and although its a slow hitter, it works well with my lvl 4 zerker. However, I would never use the claymore as an off perk weapon. Too slow, weights too much, and doesnt fit any of the other perks that well.


                          Husk cannon, I just dont feel like its that good at all. yes it has charged shots, yes it can fire long distances and even stun husks, but its easy to chew through the ammo.

                          And as for the combat shotgun, its very useful for soloist, but in groups, its too easy to waste shots by accidently firing more shots than what was nessacry.
